EVE Success Stories
EVE has worked with thousands of people and has managed projects with over 300 youth. EVE's measure of success
for these projects is determined by what the youth were doing when they joined the project and what they are doing now.

Daryl
Before: Student
Plan: Start a multi-media production company.
Time devoted to plan: 100%
Update: Currently volunteering with Idea Bank to produce and test a series of web sites. Facilitated and coordinated several
EVE sponsored youth projects, including Infostructure I and II, the Cultural Export Project and the World Heritage Project. Started
Mabinogion Studios, a multi-media/new media production company; Mabinogion Studios is currently creating a web-site for children,
and an enhanced CD for queer youth.
Intention: continue to take classes through college to improve skills and understanding of the multi-media industry.

Annavie
Before: Student, Computer Science
Plan: secure work as a system administrator for an on-line company.
Time devoted to plan: 100%
Update: Immigrant from the Phillipines who couldn't get a job in Canada because of no Canadian work experience. Now she is
working as Site Administrator for Mediconsult, a dot-com company that brings patients and doctors together on-line.

Joanne
Before: Exotic Dancer
Plan: To be a published author.
Time devoted to plan: 100%
Update: After picking up skills in digital video editing through EVE and Shortcut Editing, Joanne spent
a couple of years as a freelance Production Assistant for Ogilvy & Mather Advertising; during which, she picked up more computer
courses at George Brown College, where she honed her skills in web development and design. Joanne was headhunted to Amicus Financial/CIBC,
where she held a Project Lead position as Senior Interface Designer for two years. She then, continued her volunteer work with EVE and
Mazava, spending time in East Africa as Technical Support on a documentary film crew. She has currently launched
JDL from which she does freelance web and graphics design.
Intention: To continue working on freelance web design contracts, to get published and to use her
powers for good.

Jules
Before: Burundian Refugee
Plan: Reach out to others in need.
Time devoted to plan: 100%
Update: Jules started his own succesful NGO/charity, Umugenzi for Refugees, and a successful not-for-profit venture, The
Rukundo Club, in an effort to address the needs of refugees, immigrants, senior citizens and consumer/survivors. His work brings
members from each of these groups together to help one another.
Intention: continue to develop new strategies for creating positive links between various communities.

Cliff
Before: Student
Plan: Study music.
Time devoted to plan: 100%
Update: Cliff is studying music at a community college in Kitchener. He is a member of the band Astrokick, winners of the
1998 YTV Youth Acheivement Award for Best Band. The band is touring Eastern Ontario and have just released their first CD.
Intention: continue to work in the music industry.

Peter
Before: Street Youth
Plan: Create a business to sell Native jewellery, art and crafts.
Time devoted to plan: 100%
Update: In the process of developing an on-line business through which to sell Native handicrafts.
Intention: continue to develop his on-line business.

Mark
Before: College student
Plan: Launch a career as a television editor and new media producer with a focus on advertising, drama and documentary
film making.
Time devoted to plan: 100%
Update: Developed a demo reel through EVE. Presently employed full time as an editor at Cossette Communications in Toronto.
Intention: to continue as an editor in Toronto, and to produce content for both traditional and new media, in the world of
advertising, drama and documentary film making.
