EVE Success Stories

EVE has worked with thousands of people and has managed projects with over 300 youth. EVE's measure of success for these projects is determined by what the youth were doing when they joined the project and what they are doing now.




Marvin

Before:
working part time at a local community centre

Plan: Launch Mardémia, a new media company with sales globally.

Time devoted to plan: 100%

Update: Created two organizations: Hyper Link for Technology Transfer, which provides technical support with a focus on Internet education and community development; and Mardémia produces content for sale on the Web and provides technical services to large corporations and governments. Mardémia is currently executing a contract with The Gap in New York City. Mardémia has developed MP3 audio content about to be marketed on the Web.

Intention: Continue expansion from New York to markets in the North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean region.





Mei-lyn

Before:
Student of Microbiology

Plan: Launch a business in integrated health and infectious disease research.

Time devoted to plan: 100%

Update: Launched her own business, Complementary Health Network (CHN), through which she could become an expert in the field of infectious disease and help develop integrated health clinics in remote areas of the world. CHN is now working with Dr. Nat Quansah to promote integrated health, and is working with Dr. Kain and the Centre for Travel and Tropical Medicine, Toronto General Hospital, to develop a project using new media for the prevention, surveillance, diagnosis and management of infectious disease.

Intention: Continue expansion of CHN to include Asia and Latin America.





Philip

Before:
Artist

Plan: Looking to expand on his company; establish himself as a musician and producer.

Time devoted to plan: 100%

Update: Philip is a huge success as a member of the group Len, whose recent hit "Steal My Sunshine" reached number one in the summer of 1999. They are recording their second album. Phil is also manager and producer of his own hip-hop recording studio, Cryptic Souls.

Intention: Complete work on Len's second album.





Shade

Before:
High School Student

Plan: Launch a career as a cinematographer, new media producer.

Time devoted to plan: 75%

Update: Presently working in digital assisted manufacturing in Toronto. Shade's main interest is working in television, and she is producing a demo reel to promote her talents within the industry.

Intention: To produce television shows for export.





Lylian

Before:
College graduate, social work

Plan: Launch a career as a social worker, dealing primarily with the aged.

Time devoted to plan: 100%

Update: Now works as a caregiver and manager at a seniors' home.

Intention: Continue to develop her skills in the social services.





Matt

Before:
Unknown

Plan: Hyper-Link, new ventures, work and travel.

Time devoted to plan: 100%

Update: President of Hyper-Link for Technology Transfer, which provides youth with the opportunity to learn how Information Technology and the new economy work. Matt is involved with many different businesses and is currently working as a freelance designer/techie. Matt loves to travel internationally and has been to Ireland, Mauritius, Madagascar and Cuba.

Intention: To take Hyper-Link global, start new venture, continue freelancing while travelling to many other places in the near future. Some of the places Matt intends on visiting include New York, California, Belize, Costa Rica, Bahamas, London, Paris, Korea, Japan, Australia and back to Madagascar within the next few years.





Manon

Before:
Student, MSc of Parisitology

Plan: Launch a marine research company from a ship.

Time devoted to plan: 100%

Update: Manon is presently on a marine biology contract in Alaska. She has also established an office in Rodrigues, from which she will work on the renovation of a boat for use as a research and tourism vessel in the Mascarene Plateau, Indian Ocean.

Intention: Renovate a ship and operate it from Rodrigues, Indian Ocean.





Ben

Before:
Student

Plan: Develop a building, consulting and engineering company.

Time devoted to plan: 100%

Update: Ben founded Bricolage Building Products, which has patents being prepared for a tetrahedronic floating village. While the design is being patented for large scale projects, Ben is testing an immediate application of this idea for remote rainforest research.

Intention: Ben's main goal is to create a large scale machine studio where he can develop patents.
